Battle for Baby 81

Among millions of grieving stories today came an entirely unique one concerning the four months old baby who was found alive under a pile of debris after the tsunami.

It was not longer ago that "Baby 81" stole the day when nine couples claimed to be his parents and then again with a court order to conduct a DNA test to find the legitimate ones. Once again Abilassh has managed to draw the attention of an entire country after one of the couples who had made a legal claim paid a visit to the hospital.

Murugupillai Jeyarajah and wife Junitha visited the hospital ward with their relatives and supporters, only to find themselves emotionally attached to the baby. However, things didn't seem to go well as the hospital staff bought in the resistive force to impede an 'apparent' attempt to snatch the child from the ward. The couple was taken into custody for storming the hospital and allegedly trying to snatch the child from hospital. However, they were later released on bail a district judge with the orders to return to court on Thursday.

The DNA tests have not yet been completed, and hence, the baby still remains under the custody of the hospital staff. However, most villages including the couple are against the court order for a DNA test.

There is no need for a DNA test, this is our son. This is not justice.

Even with nine reduced to one, they still seem skeptical about the entire issue. Then again, who would want to see a child fall into the wrong hands? Our world has become such a place where love no longer carries promise, but rather guilt. I sometimes wonder whether its science to blame. But what I know for sure is that his baby has gone through enough trouble. Time is up for him to go home.

I just arrived back from Sri Lanka, a 10 unforgetable days not only for the beauty of the country but also for the immense beauty of its people.
The best for me was to be able to give directly to the children in need.
the small gifts provoked beautiful smiles.
I just wished I could have give the same to all children in need.

Hey glad to know about your visit and I'm thankful for your generosity at this time of need. I'm sure the children loved to have you around.

To finish-off the topic, the couple was finally declared as the legitimate parents of the baby after conducting the DNS test. In the most controversial case ever to be taken place in Kalmunai, everyone took the verdict with a sigh of relief after the baby was once again named to his real name: Abilassh. IMO, it was the parents who had to undergo the worst suffering during the course of this trial. They almost came to point of commiting suicide. They not only had to deal with the agony of their child being kept away from them, but also having nine other parents claiming the child to be their own. Yet, I'm glad things eventually turned out the way it should be. Hope the fortunes of Abilassh could make him one proud son to his parents who deserve it big time for their struggle.
