Some Dealing with Grief
There are millions displaced here, thousands who have lost their loved ones, many more fighting for life. How could one explain what they are going through? Their fighting a battle to over come grief.
In this battle their stepping into levels of offenses in normal life. I hear stories where orphaned children have been taken in without any approval by grieving families that lost loved ones. The government and aid organizations have denounced this act and asked families to stop.
The families which are doing this are trying to deal with their own grief ... of having lost their children. But they must understand that this is not the way to go about it.
These incidents are been reported in large numbers from areas like Galle and Matara where children accounted for a third of the total number of victims. Government officials are advising people that they should follow the proper procedure of adoption to prevent long-term problems.
These are people whose hearts have been torn apart. They have lost everything they once held so dearly. But their overcoming of grief has broken laws and put orphans' futures on risk. It's hard to understand whether they are concerned about responsibility when they have lost all sense of it. But we are talking about the lives of children, which could be everything for a country's future.

wondering if they have jobs for people who like to go help,.,
It may depend on the nature of work you're willing to take on. The Red Cross and CHA might be helpful, and so will be the local embassies, specially since most have cancelled visa functions. Thanks for atleast considering. the thought means a lot to us.
There have been some debate after the government insisted that local authorities need to take charge of handling foreign aid. I for one, don't think its reasonable. Their here to help, so why not. After all, they could end up doing a better job with an open mind, than a tiresome work force who have been deployed since last sunday. There's a lot more things to be settled in an already messed up country. I hope they do move in the right direction.
