Lost and Found
As many lost lives are loitering in every corner, it has become a high priority task to clear up the corpses to avoid a major epidemic. Even as we speak bodies are being dumped in rows at grave yards just dugged specially for the cause. Only a few remains were lucky enough to be identified in order to receive a proper burial.
A similar situation has arised with bodies of foreign nationals. The Police Disaster Management Team here in Sri Lanka reported that there are still many unindentified bodies of tourists lying at the Colombo National Hospital Morgue and at the Kohuwela Hospital. They have appealed to the public to inquire about the people who were affected during the tidal waves. If you need any information use the following contact methods.
Telephone : +94 11 2433671 or 2421111 Ext. 141
Fax : +94 11 2433671
E-mail : dmtc@police.lk
In the meantime The Tourist Board has published a name list of Foreign Nationals who were reported to be found after being registered through the Board and the relevant Embassies. Click here to view the list. Also they have setup an Inquiry Service to find information about missing tourists.
