A Shift in Concentration
Finally a realization point has been reached. The main concentration is now on those who have been injured. Many people have suffered broken bones, ruptured blood vessels and spinal and head injuries. Doctors are cleaning and disinfecting these wounds over and over again. They deserve much respect for this enoumously hard task they have undertaken to help the ones in need.
Even with all their efforts, still medical supplies are reaching the areas much slower than the requirement. Once again it's a problem with transportation. As a result the medical staff have to appease intensely emotional patients for thier own well being. Most nurses are from the affected areas, they have families who had gone through the same tragedy, but they still remain in their positions trying to help without even knowing what happen to thier loved ones.
It's going to take time, a lot of time, before things begin to look a bit like what they did before - but at least we have made a start
Something from the bright side is that overseas medical assistance have reached some areas of the country, the latest being an Austrian medical team which just arrived bringing two-and-a-half tonnes of medical supplies. Their main concern is ensuring enough supplies of fresh water which could help prevent any outbreaks. They have requested the local authorities to clean wells and purify water sources as soon as possible.
Co-ordination is something that's vital here in the relief assistance program. It could dramatically improve the recovery time and prevent many more losses. Eventhough problems may persist, there is an urgent need that makes it important to find solutions to overcome them. My appreciation goes to almost every aid agency who are trying their very best to make all their efforts beneficial at a time when it means everything to those in need.
